Fountain Pen Day falls on the first Friday of November. Guess what, that's this week! In honor of Fountain Pen Day and due to the fact that we have a few of our Karas Kustoms INKs back from the anodizer, we are giving one of them away. Plus we know everyone loves free stuff. On to the details.
We are giving away Karas Kustoms INK "Arizona Edition", red anodized with a copper section and clipless cap. This pen will be the first INK to leave the shop since we made design changes from the original run. To briefly go over the changes, here we go. We switched from a Schmidt #5 nib to a Bock #6 nib. This allows us to offer EF nibs as well as provide a high quality writing experience. The nib is semi-recessed in the section to give the pen its own aesthetic look and as an homage to some of the early recessed nibbed pens. We added copper and brass to the mix when we expanded from just using those materials on the grip sections to complete barrels and caps, so now you can get an INK that is completely copper to dazzle your friends and family. We changed the inner threads on the section to add some stability (it wasn't necessary but just ensure the section screws in nice and holds the converter in place a little better). Finally we are adding the clipless cap to these pens due to many people expressing a desire for that feature.
Three Runner Up prizes will be awarded randomly and will include
Fountain Pen Day bookmarks, buttons and a Karas Kustoms notebook along
with a mystery gift for each of the runner ups from our box of random
giveaway items
So here's the lowdown on the giveaway. To enter you will need to post a comment below. In the comment tell us your favorite fountain pen, first fountain pen, or why you want to get into fountain pens. All entries will
be assigned a number and the random number generator at www.random.org will be utilized to pick a
winner. The winner will be chosen on November 9th, at 5pm Arizona time.
We will announce the winners on the blog as well as via the @karaspenco Instagram if you follow us there.
I know this is going to sounds like a suck-up answer...but my black Ink with a shapeways clip is my favorite. The pen is nice, I like the heft and size of it, but the custom ground Crisp Cursive Italic nib is what keeps me coming back to that pen. It always gets the fancy new inks first and stays inked when I am purging because too many pens are inked.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Preppy, followed by a Pilot Metro, and then all hell broke loose.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen, if I remember correctly, was some sort of Sheaffer student cartridge pen with a clear barrel -- now long, long, long gone.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen,in my first lifetime was a Montblanc 146, which I lost. In my second fountain pen lifetime it was a Pelikan M600, in red of course. My favorite fountain pens is that beautiful Arizona Edition INK that you're giving to me on Friday–thank you ahead of time by the way. So nice of you guys!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is my Shinobi by Shawn Newton! Thanks for the opportunity :).

ReplyDeleteMy first was a Pilot Plumix, and my favorite so far is a TWSBI mini!
ReplyDeleteI love my Namisu Nexus with a Titanium Nib because the full Titanium Construction is really something beautiful, the flexy nib is always something for a special occasion and it is currently one of my two EDC fountain pens, the other one is a Vanishing Point.
ReplyDeleteThe first was a Lamy Safari. The current favorite is an Edison Pearlette with a Franklin-Christoph/Mike Masuyama medium cursive italic nib.
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite is my Newton Orville because if the sentimental value it holds.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain was a POS I bought from Amazon, scratchy and didn't work well. I lost it within two weeks. I count a Pilot Metropolitan as my first real FP. My favorite FP is a KK Ink with an Mbacas medium CI.

ReplyDeleteI love pens, but I have never got a fountain pen yet. I guess I have been biding my time. But now that my brother got one and let me use it I am sold. This would just make the commitment so easy.

ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Studio. My current favorite is tough to pick. My favorite modern is Pilot Metal Falcon. And my favorite vintage pen is a Eversharp Skyline with a flexible nib from the amazing Paul Bennett ;) But I don't have a KK INK yet, but one definitely needs to join my collection.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, my first fountain pen that I ever bought was the INK on the kickstarter campaign. It opened my eyes to such great things. My all time favorite pen though, is my 1945 Parker Vacumatic in green. I really like that you all have listened to your customers and made improvements on an already amazing pen.
ReplyDeleteI find it almost impossible to choose a favourite pen - but I have a few that are in my 'top tier', that get more use than most. These include a Pilot Vanishing Point, a TWSBI 580, my Karas Kustoms INK... and a Diplomat Excellence A
ReplyDeleteThanks for this giveaway - would love to have second KK pen!
My first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari, but my favorite is probably the second one I ever got, which I received as a gift: Pilot Vanishing Point. My everyday carry is a gray Ink, though, and I can't wait to get my hands on the new style whether I'm lucky enough to win or not!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite EDC fountain pen is my initial issue Fountain K (Schmidt nib). I have several custom ground #5 nibs for my INK, and I enjoy swapping them between the two pens. That said, I love the look of the new INK and will probably be adding one to me collection.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari but my favorite pen is my matte black vanishing point! Also, gimmie dat pen.
ReplyDeleteI think my first fountain pen was probably a Pilot Varsity. Soon after I got an Aurora Idea and a Lamy AL-Star. Hard to pick a true all-time favorite, but currently I'm digging the TWSBI ECO, and surprising as it may sound - an orange Jinhao 159. I like the size and weight of these 159s, and you can't beat ~$5 price (delivered). The stock nibs can be made to be good, or other #6 nibs can be swapped. I also really like my INK rollerball (also on the larger, heavier side), but have been craving a fountain pen version for awhile, so I'm so glad that a) your making them again and b) the new version sounds even better than the first!
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Pilot Metro F.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a red Shaffer drug store pen. My favorite is my Olive INK 29 with its lovely FCI nib. Thanks for being awesome, Karas.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to pick a favorite pen so I'll just say my first, it was a platinum preppy! I was surprised by how well it wrote for a $4 pen, and I still use it till this day for harder to clean inks.
ReplyDeleteCurrent fav: Sailor 1911 Black Luster
ReplyDeleteTough call on my favorite. I love my Franklin-Christoph 02 Clipless, but use my FountainK every day. My first is easy though. A beat up Lamy AL-Star gifted to me by my sister-in-law. It's still in my rotation and I often use it to test new inks as it is very reliable.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Vista with a LH nib. Still have it and occasionally ink it. Love my Fountain K in brass right now.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Logo, but so far, my favorite is the Pilot Metropolitan.
ReplyDeleteNever had fountain pen. Maybe it's time to have one, from a giveaway? Even better!!
ReplyDeleteMy first was actually a Pilot Metropolitan, if you don't count the Varsity I had when I was 16. It doesn't see a lot of use, but was a worthy stepping stool. Thanks for the chance, dudes.
ReplyDeleteMy first was a Visionnaire but I tend to use mostly lammy Safari or the pilot metropolitan now. Although I keep going back to my first.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Waterman of Paris Laureat I given to me by my best friend, she had two of them and thought I should dive into the fountain pen world...and dive in, I did! (IG id is nevadaselkie)
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a knock-off from China that actually did OK until I dropped it:( My new favorite pen is this one! I am sending all of my good luck vibes to the random number generator...
ReplyDeleteGraduating college got me a Montblanc, which I'm sure I manhandled. Love the Gold INK and the Franklin Christoph 20 I purchased in Atlanta last spring.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was given to me by my grandmother along with some calligraphy textbooks, ever since then I love writing with fountain pens, specially now I got my boyfriend into them as well! My favorite pen at the moment is Lamy Safari coral that my boyfriend got me, its so practical for college! Good luck to everyone!
ReplyDeleteFirst fountain pen was a platinum Preppy, I gave it to my sister since I had my copper Bolt to use. My favorite fountain pen that I own is my Noodler's Nib Creaper pen with Rome Burning (an amazing gold with purple ink). I have been daily using it for the past two days and I love it. I would love to have an INK and I can't wait until they are re-released! I actually want to get one for my friend so if I could have one too that would be the most amazing thing ever!
ReplyDeleteBrad Lee Meyer stringtanlax@gmail.com
DeleteThe cheap pilot fountain pen with the extra fine nib is my current favorite. My first was a Lamy safari.
ReplyDeleteMy first FP was a Lamy Safari. After many years of FPing, it is still in heavy rotation and daily us. But, my favorite is the Pilot Matte Black Vanishing Point. Such a well designed, well built, easy to deploy, and smooth writing pen.
ReplyDeleteWould be an honour to win this for my husband. He loves your pens and is so patiently waiting for the fountain :)
ReplyDeletePink Lamy Safari was my first
ReplyDeleteFirst pen was a Pilot Vanishing Point and it has been all downhill from there.
ReplyDeleteFirst fountain pen: borrowed my father's Parker 61, but later traveled to meet The Amiable Peer Gustafson and after trying several, purchased a Waterman's Commando.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great pens, posts, and giveaways! My first fountain pen was a plastc Kaweco Skyline Sport in Grey with an EF nib. Still in use. I have to withhold comment on favorite fountain pen until I try a Karas Ink ;)
ReplyDeleteSo far I've used a Pilot Metro and a Lamy Safari. I love the mechanics or writing not so much the substance.

ReplyDeleteAzbennett!!
ReplyDelete-twitlessdan
My first fountain pen was a Jinhao x750. My favorite is my Karas Kustoms Fountain K with a 14k eversharp nib, the clip on it is perfect for everyday carry in my Levi's.
ReplyDeleteFav pen besides Franklin-Christoph is the Kcavers minty mint!
ReplyDeleteI can tell you about my beginning and where I'm at now! I started with the rebranded preppy that came with a bottle of Noodler's Heart of Darkness, and that got me hooked. My current favorite is a toss up between my Faber Castell Basic Black and my TWSBI 580 Al in orange, which I just got in!
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a handed down Montblanc, but my passion has to be in the craftsmanship behind the Karas Kustoms, I'd love to expand the collection!
ReplyDeleteMy first till now only fontain pens have been school types, my last one was a Pelikan, and I still use it, but I really want this one.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Parker Vector. I still have it after many years and since it started me down the fountain pen path, I'll never get rid of it.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Preppy. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen will hopefully be the one I would win. I currently have 4 KARAS pens and love them all. Let's make this #5!
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Diplomat, purchased from a gift shop in the early 90s with no clue what was up. Rebooted FP life a year ago, buying a Safari and almost immediately a KK Ink. That Ink is in constant use, with a F-C nib.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Pilot Metropolitan. Still a great pen, in my opinion. My new favorite pen, though, is my Karas Kustoms Arizona edition Ink... ;) ;)
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Petit and I was amazed at how smooth such an inexpensive pen is. I want to get a nicer one next. I love the feel of my Render K so the Fountain K is very appealing but now with the changes to the Ink Im on the fence once again!
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen is a Sheaffer Imperial Triumph that I got as a graduation gift or something like it.
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite is my black Pilot Capless(vanishing point). It's just with me all the time and a bit dinged up.
My favorite fountain pen is my Wahl Eversharp Skyline Standard. ( ^3^)
ReplyDeleteI just started my fountain pen collection at the SF Pen Show in August, and my first purchase was a Wahl Eversharp skyline. I love this pen, it is beautiful, a piece of art, truly...and now I am pen obsessed...I want to know about every kind of pen, vintage and modern. What makes them special, how do they write, who designed them and why. So glad there is an official day to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteFirst fountain pen was a charcoal Lamy Safari (unfortunately it started leaking) and while favorite is a tough decision, since I got my Fountain K it has never not been inked up which isn't true for any other pen I own. Really looking forward to the Ink 2.0!

ReplyDeleteFirst pen I bought with my own money was a white Lamy Safari FP when I was 12.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen is a tie between my Omas Ogiva Alba in Violet and my Limited Edition Pilot Custom 74 w/ a Butter Line Stub Grind. I love the flex and the wetness of the former pen and the Line variation and smoothness of the latter.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite fountain pen is my Lamy 2000. It isnt necessarily my favourite to use, the most impressive or the prettiest, it is very good in all of these categories but it is even better on a sentimental level. This pen was my 21st birthday present and so it is very important to me.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen like most people was a Lamy Safari, I bought the vista as I liked the clear design and an extra fine nib as I always used pens that had fine tips to them. I was not disappointed and soon bought my first twsbi, Parker and kickstarter pen in quick succession. I am truly an addict know and know as the pen guy by everyone I know!
My first fountain pen was a Sears pen I bought at a flea market. It used Shaeffer cartridges and had a hooded nib. All-in-all a pretty cheap pen, but it got my curiosity going!
ReplyDeleteOoh, nice. Can't wait for the titanium version.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a matt black Parker 25. As a young teenager i thought it was the coolest pen ever.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen is Lamy2000.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Pilot Metropolitan! I still use it today!
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy safari and I still love it :)
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari in charcoal black with an extra fine nib. Great pen and got me hooked. Then I backed the INK kickstarter and it's been my favorite ever since.
ReplyDeleteGo Sun Devils!
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Shaeffer Calligraphy set, followed by a Parker Vector, and a Shaeffer Prelude. I used the Calligraphy pen as a daily writer for a while, and I've been wanting all CIs all the time ever since.
@kcnightfang on Slack
Awesome. Let's go with my first fountain pen, Lamy Safari.
ReplyDeleteIf I win The INK,it will be my first fountain pen. I started to get interested in fountains a couple of months ago.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a fine nib Pilot Metropolitan. It took me a lot longer than it should have to realize that I didn't need to use cartridges with it. I still enjoy the Metro, but it is not my favorite. At the moment, my favorite fountain pen is my Lamy 2000 with an extra-fine nib.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Pelikan, I don't remember the name of it, but it was plastic white, with lovely color stripes. That was when I was like 12-14 YO, now that I am back in the FP world, my first one was a Inoxcrom Nature, which I still use.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a tumbled INK, my favorite and EDC is a copper fountain K. I cannot write with anything else now.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari (yellow) I picked in the 1980's up at a stationery shop in a mall; because I liked the looks and the price was modest.
ReplyDeleteI have no fountain pen, so my favorite will most likely be the ink.2, since that will be my first. Maybe I'll win it, maybe I'll buy it. Thus has been a slow process from ballpoint to rollerball and now logically a fountain pen. All karas customs of course...
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Nemosine Fission. Had to quickly learn that machine made pens sometimes need a nib adjustement to work properly, and had to fix a flow problem. Still use the pen today! Writes nicely!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy current favourite fountain pen is a Parker Frontier Matte Black with a gold nib.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was Parker Beta.
I love fountain pens because they're incredible to write with owing to their flexibility, customisability, etc. It's such a pleasure to use them.
My first fountain pen was a Parker, given to me by my father. Very likely as a Christmas gift. My favorite fountain pen is the TWSBI Diamond 580. It's the right weight and size for me and writes cleanly. Use it almost every day
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a fine looking pen.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a gift from Mom. A Parker, not sure of the model, but it strongly resembles a Parker Jotter ballpoint pen. It's cracked between the grip and section threads twice now, and magically healed itself after being left in a drawer for months. I still have that thing. My current favorite is another gift, from my sibling this time, which is a Pelikan 205 "Red".

ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was my Pilot Kakuno! I wanted to get into the hobby but didn't want to spend too much. The Kakuno was perfect and even helped me adjust my handwriting. Don't have a favorite yet because I have so few and I can't discriminate.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was purchased from Earl, owner of the Honolulu Pen Shop - a Mont Blanc Agatha Christie that Earl donated to a charity. Been hooked ever since....
ReplyDeleteFirst pen was a TWSBI Eco, and my favorite has been my Pilot Falcon!
ReplyDeleteFavorite is the Visconti Rembrandt, first was a lamy safari (:
ReplyDeleteFavorite is the Visconti Rembrandt, first was a lamy safari (:
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Pilot Petit 1, and my favorite is something Visconti -- hard to pick a specific one.
ReplyDeletemy first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari. My current favourite pen is a Pelikan M400 white tortoise or pilot vanishing point.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari Charcoal. Current favorite is split between a Kaweco Art Sport and a Franklin-Christoph Pocket 20 with a fine cursive italic. I love the form factor of the Kaweco but the F-C nib is to so sweet. Need a fountain pen from Karas to join up with my EDC brass Render K!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was the Faber Castell Loom with a fine nib. It is still my current favourite because it is so smooth
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a unbranded blue pen from a yardsale. I loved it and used it for over a year. I have picked up a number of cheaper fountain pens over the past few year but the best by far is my TWSBI eco. That being said, I would love to win this to have an amazing metal pen. I have heard great things and seen great reviews of your products and would love to have one to call my own. Thanks and good luck everyone.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen is the Sheaffer Sagaris.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Pilot Metropolitan with Gold Dots. Still use it and love it. My favorite fountain pen of the moment is the Noodlers Konrad in Appalachian Pearl - I take a ton of notes very quickly while on the phone at work every day and it keeps up nicely!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen is my Pelikan M101N for looks and various other Pelikans for writing! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy First was Lamy Safari. Fountain pens really make me slow down and appreciate the art of penmanship. Nothing like having beautiful tool to write with.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen right now is the Lamy 2000 Makralon. It writes amazingly, has great design aesthetics, and is an interesting material.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen is Lamy studio, with an M nib. My first fountain pen was a camlin fountain pen in India :).
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is my first vintage pen, a Wahl Eversharp with very flexy nib. It's a oy to write with!
ReplyDeleteFirst fountain pen was a Bic disposable. Favourite is my Pilot VP! Of course this beauty would take top spot ;)
ReplyDeleteFirst fountain pen was a Parker 21 that I "absconded" from my father. Favorite, hard to say, currently a Vac 700 with my ArciFine Grind.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen, that i still have and use, is the Twsbi Diamond 580. It's gigantic piston of ink is great to have on a daily use pen!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen is the Pilot Falcon. Lovely soft nib.
ReplyDeletemy first fountain was given to me by my father -- a lamy safari. i lost it! seeing him this past summer at his home in korea inspired me to buy a new one, and now i can't stop buying fountain pens and ink!
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to grow up with a father who had a large collection of really nice fountain pens. I was able to use his less expensive ones as a kid. The first one he gave me was a little metal body Parker which I promptly lost. I would really love to win this, but at the same like it would be kinda awesome for one of the commenters who are just getting interested and have not owned a fp to win...
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy first ever fountain pen was a Lamy Al-Star. After seeing the guy who sat next to me in physics using a matte black safari, I knew I had to get one just as good!
ReplyDeleteI like all my fps, theres no favourite, but I have a favourite INK and thats doubtlessly Iroshizuku Murasaki Shikibu. Its a perfect color.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen (right now) is a Lamy Safari that I had custom ground to an XXF. I love that pen!
ReplyDeleteMy first was a Platinum Preppy; my current favourite is a JinHao, but I expect that to change!
ReplyDeleteMy first was a Diplomat Excellence A (Black/gold) and my favourite is probably my latest Sailor Standard 21 (maroon). My next favourite will *obviously* be the Karas Customs INK.
ReplyDeletemy first pen I got was the Jinhao x450 but the first pen I bought was a Kaweco and it is my favourite. I have only just started collecting
ReplyDeleteMy favourite pen right now would have to be my Edison Collier 2015 limited edition. I do love mt Karas Kustoms Retrakt as well, but it's a rollerball. :)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love my KK pens, I'd have to say, my all-time favorite is the Lamy 2000. It's durable, reliable and holds a great amount of ink. It really is my go-to pen for tossing in a jeans pocket or bag and hitting the road...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaways guys!
Like many, my first pen was a Pilot Metro (Black zig zag) in Medium. My current favorite pen is my TWSBI 580AL with a BLS. great capacity, cool demonstartor look, great grind, what's not to love?
ReplyDeleteFirst fountian pen was a Lamy Safari!
ReplyDeleteMy very first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari
ReplyDeleteRight now my favorite is the vacumatic.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Pilot MR White Tiger. I started journaling a lot and started finding rollerballs quite uncomfortable. Fountain pens offer a much better writing experience!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pen is a grey pilot prera with a plumix nib.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was the Platinum Preppy but if we are talking about a pen that is not disposable it would be the Lamy Safari. I still use it at work. Although, my most favourite pen to write with that I own is, surprisingly, the one I got from Muji. It writes smoothly and I can keep ink in there forever and it will still flow with no issues.

ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari. Carried it through a year long deployment when I was in the Army. It's really leaky now but I still carry it on adventures from time to time. Favorite pen is a first generation Waterman Expert that belonged to my wife's great grandmother.
ReplyDeleteMy first was a purple Lamy AL-Star... then I jumped right into restoring vintage pens... then to altering Jinhaos... and now needing to save for a HG ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Pilot Metropolitan. I still use it today and have gotten many others.
ReplyDeleteMy first ever pen, was a Parker Vector, bought for me to use at school, bought from W H Smiths.
ReplyDeletePoor little thing, cracked in the end :(
My first fountain pen, was some unknown name from years gone by. My most favorite one is my twsbi 580-al in purple. I just love writing with this pen. Feels good in the hand. I prefer a pen with a bit of weight, just feels right.
ReplyDeleteMy first Fountain Pen i received on my birthday 2 years ago on Nov. 6th. It was a nemosine singularity and i haven't looked back yet. Having my birthday and Fountain pen day on the same day just seems like a match made in heaven
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a black Parker Vector... and I still love it; my currect favourite pen is my Edison Collier. I got into fountain pens because my dad and granddad were both avid users.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a waterman carene that I borrowed from my father. It got me into pens.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen, disregarding some generic, transparent plastic pen I has as a child, was/is a Nemosine Fission. It has a shiny metal finish, and is nice and heavy. I only have one ink right now, Diamine Bilberry.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari, charcoal black with a fine nib. The nib ended up taking a dive down my sink once when I was cleaning it, but I now own about 10 fountain pens, so let's call it even.
ReplyDeleteMy first: a terrible, very cheap import. Now replaced with a Pilot Metropolitan that I love.
ReplyDeleteI got my first pen my third year of high school because I was tired of using ball points and wanted something better to take notes. After quite some time of research and debate I ordered my shiny black Lamy Safari. I got some strange looks, but I didn't care. Three pens later my current favorite is a brown Kaweco Sport fitted with a Edison 1.1mm stub because its small size and smoothed nib. Although, I pretty sure that will change once I get my unbranded vintage pen fixed up. It has a 14k warranted nib and it is made from the same material as the Waterman Patrician in the turquoise celluloid.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Caran d'Ache Leman Rhodium. Beautiful pen, still have it, but it's retired to my pen case in honor of extended, honorable service :). My current favorite is a Visconti Homo Sapiens pen that.....
ReplyDelete...was either lost or stolen from me this past August :(. I'm still sad about it. Winning this beautiful pen might help though!
My first fountain pen was the Lamy Al-Star in purple. Unfortunately, I lost it on a particularly snowy day on a walk to school. :(
ReplyDeleteMy first "serious" fountain pen is a Parker Premier, which I still use every now and then. The pen that is almost always within arms length is my Sailor KoP with King Eagle nib.
ReplyDeleteMy first FP was a Sheaffer 'school pen' back in grade school. I just got one of those, and the darn thing is a really nice writer.
ReplyDeleteMy first pen was a pilot metropolitan which got me into pens and practicing my writing. My next pen will be the karas fountain k in brass as soon as it is available.
ReplyDeleteMy first pen is my favorite pen so far. I got a pilot metropolitan in medium and it is such a good writer. I haven't looked back since.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI can't choose a favorite, but my first fountain pen was the fantastically awesome (ugly?) Rotring Core. I still love those pens, and I just got another one the other day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the give-away!
My favorite pen (currently) is my Pilot VP Twilight. Just gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite FP so far is the Aurora Ipsilon, but then I've yet to try a Karas Kustom.... ; )
ReplyDeleteI want to start using fountain pens because they are classy as all get out!
ReplyDeleteyep
DeleteMy first pen was a pilot metro with a fine nib, to this day it is my favorite pen
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Platinum Preppy 02 (EF) with Blue-Black - I bought a few different sized with wildly inconsistent results - but that convinced me to try a Pilot Metropolitan (Fine) (with EF & Medium Italic nibs to swap in) and that is my current favourite - I have much more to try as I descend this rabbit hole!
ReplyDeleteMy first pen was a Lamy Safari, which I quickly fixed with an italic nib. A coworker of mine got me into fountain pens and showed me the ropes, and I've really enjoyed it as a way of getting back into handwritten correspondence. I really enjoy the variety of inks and the personal note that comes with writing. My current favorite is a Montverde Invincia with a broad nib I got on sale. It just handles so smoothly, looks incredible, and hefts well.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pen is a Vintage pen I found at the local flea-market. It says "Tornado" on the cap and has a nice flexible nib.
ReplyDeleteMy first pen was a lamy safari, charcoal. My favorite pen has to be the TWSBI Eco with a 1.4 stub nib. I have been waiting for the INKS for months as I follow you and I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen has got to either be the Parker Vacumatic or the TWSBI Micarta. My first pen however was the Safari Charcoal.
ReplyDeleteMy very first fountain pen was an inexpensive Parker that my father gave me back in the day. I used it through high school but somewhere along the way the nib got smashed. My next favorite pen is that red "Arizona" edition--beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Stypen Harley Davidson. My mom got it for me when i was in School... i still have it to this day :-)
ReplyDeleteMy very first fountain pen was an old Pelikan (I can't recall the model, too long ago). I don't know where it came from, I might have inherited it. I used it until the day I lost it (that was a very sad day.)
ReplyDeleteMy fav fountain pen is my Tswbi diamond mini, I just love the way it feels, but I'm hankering to get into you guys's fountain pens, I've been worried that I had missed out on the INK but to hear that they just got better! Woo!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite current pen is my Pelikan 140 OBB. It was a gift recieved when I paid off my business. I use it nearly every day.
ReplyDeleteMy first pen is my Lamy Safari, my favourite pen is my Lamy Safari, and I want to get into pens because I only have a Lamy Safari and I love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific giveaway, guys. Thanks! My first fountain pen was a pilot petit1. But my favorite is my Lamy cp1. Wait, it's my TWSBI Al Star. No, It's my Pilot Prera. Or...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pen is the original INK fountain pen. My background is in Mechanical Design Engineering and can appreciate many of the design elements like socket head cap screws, the anodized finish , and the different section materials like copper and brass. The pens remind me of hot rods and the something the machinist I've worked with would make. I've owned Franklin Christoph, Pelikan, Taccia, Conklin, and other fountain pens, but the Ink is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI still use pen and paper to sketch Designs and my Art sketches. I use the Render K filled with the hi-tec c refill. The Render K is much easier to use than my Rapidograph technical pens.
My first was a Platinum Preppy. I haven't looked back since that day.
ReplyDeleteMy very first pen was Cross Aventura from staples as a gift.
ReplyDeleteI have been hooked ever since then.

ReplyDeleteAwesome! My favorite pen has to be the new omas cocktail in blue o.o its just such a beautiful demonstrator, my first pen was a pilot metropolitain, and i got in because of the /r/fountainpens subreddit where there were so many people praising them and ive come to find out why and i love them too!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite fountain pen is probably the Kaweco Al Sport in polished Chrome. The size make it the ideal EDC fountain pen. The one star leather sleeve makes it a perfect place in your front pocket. The pen always starts immediately even if you haven't used it in a while.

ReplyDeleteFirst fountain pen: Parker Vacumatic. Bought a pretty pen... didn't realize how lucky I was to get a gem. 10 months later and I've filled 3 drawers with pens. Yep... hooked.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen, a Kaweco AL Sport with an EF nib, is still by far my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first Fountain Pen day participation and was linked to your site via the promotional FPD site. I would love to win this pen as its gorgeous. I'll celebrate by practicing my writing.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a gifted Namiki Falcon. I fell in love as soon as I inked it up!
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was a Parker 45, given to me by my parents for my tenth birthday. I have no idea where it is now.
ReplyDeleteI came back to fountain pens a few years ago as a way of alleviating writer's cramp. I bought a cheap, generic cartridge pen from a big-box stationery chain and fell in love.
It made such a difference that it started a habit. My favourites are now a Jinhao X750 (the sparkly one) and a J. Herbin demonstrator. Still with the inexpensive pens, but I'd love to try something a little more high-end someday.
Pilot custom heritage 92 is bae.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Pen is a Visconti Rembrandt in Bue.
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen was the Lamy Safari, but it's quickly escalated.

ReplyDeleteSomewhere along the way, someone gave me a Montblanc Meisterstuck FP (the most expensive item I own) and I'm literally scared to use it.
My favorite fountain pen currently is my Karas Kustoms Stonewashed Green INK with a tomahawk mod medium cursive italic nib from Artsnibs. Smooth, yet crisp, wet writer. o.0
ReplyDeleteMy first fountain pen? An Esterbrook cartridge pen, purchased for $1.00 at a long gone discount store called Treasure Island. My favorite, a Pelikan Celebry.
